So I have decided to go and illustrate an SEO blueprint for my readers. I have also included some detailed information following the illustration so that it can give you a better idea of what the illustration means.

Choosing the right keywords

You always want to choose the right keywords to start out with. A good place to start looking for keywords is SEMRush, this is a great tool to find competitor keywords. After finding some keywords make a list of about 25 keywords.

Checking to see if these keywords are obtainable

If you just started your site 2 months ago and you do not have a ton of backlinks you don’t want to try to aim for a keyword that is dominated by authoritative websites. When looking for the right keywords a good tool to start with is SEO For Firefox. When searching the first page of Google this tool will give you the stats of every site on the first page. If there are a ton of authoritative domains targeting that keyword you might want to look for another keyword .

Choosing pages for your keywords

The next thing you want to do is choose pages for these keywords, it would be a good idea to target 3-4 keywords per page, max.

Optimizing your landing page for these keywords

After chosing the pages for your keywords you are gonna want to optimize these pages so that they rank well. Optimizing these pages include:

Title Tags: Write the title tag using your main keywords. For example if I was writing my title tag for the home page of this mortgage site in my example it would be as follows

Maryland Mortgage Company – Great Rate For a Mortgage in Maryland

Description Tags: You wanna make your description as catchy and enticing as possible. A good description tag will bring in a lot more visits. Here is a sample of a good description tag:

{YOUR COMPANY} is a  Maryland Mortgage company specializing in home loans for Maryland and the surrounding areas. Try our  simple, one-step mortgage application process.

Hx Tags: These days I really don’t like to use the H1 tag as much as I like to use the H2 tag but thats my own personal preference. Whatever you decide to use make sure to use the Hx tags to define important titles on your page.

Page Body: Make sure to use your keywords in the body of your text for a little bit of extra relevancy. Don’t worry about keyword density just write GOOD content. Make sure to emphasize important points with the <strong> tag

Build Backlinks: Find places to obtain backlinks from that are relevant to your site. You can achieve this by using directories, blogs, and/or other sites. I point out plenty of ways to get backlinks all throughout this blog so if you wanna find ways to get backlinks then search around on the blog or go to Google and search the term “how to find backlinks”.
