To say the least this is probably one of the best snippets of code Google has released yet. I ran a comparison on load speed and the pages on the test site that I put this code on is now running 13.2% faster that it was originally running.

Unfortunately a lot of people don’t even know what Google Asynchronous Analytics Tracking is, so let me give you a brief run down. Google Asynchronous Analytics Tracking is the new analytics code that Google has come out with, it is still in Beta (Along With Everything Else From Google) but available to the general public. Some of the features of Google Asynchronous Analytics Tracking are the following:

Faster tracking code load times for your web pages due to improved browser execution
Enhanced data collection & accuracy
Elimination of tracking errors from dependencies when the JavaScript hasn’t fully loaded

One thing that is very cool about Google Asynchronous Analytics Tracking is the fact that you can pretty much out it anywhere on you page. I put mine in the <HEAD>

<script type="text/javascript">

  var _gaq = _gaq || [];
  _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-XXXXX-X']);
  _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

  (function() {
    var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
    (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(ga);
  })();

</script>

The one thing that has me baffled though is the fact that google hasn’t pushed this product harder, it is a major upgrade from GA.JS. Oh well, at least I got the word out to my readers. If you want more information on Google Asynchronous Analytics Tracking here are some pretty good resources:
