List Of Free SEO Tools

List Of Free SEO Tools images List Of Free SEO Tools

I recently wrote a post on my most frequently used SEO tools. After writing my last post a couple of readers contacted me asking me to make a list of  free SEO tools. I thought that this would be a great idea being as though there are a wealth of free tools out there.

So here is my list, I hope you like it.

Analytics Tools

Google Analytics – One of the most commonly used Analytics programs in the industry. Google offers a very well put together analytics package. IMO I believe this is one of the easiest analytics packages to learn and is very user friendly.

Piwik – This is an awesome package for the person who does not want to share all of their information with Google. It is completely open source and can be downloaded then then FTP’ed to your site. So just imagine having your very own Google analytics substitute, of course short a couple of possibly needed features. But that is the price you pay for privacy :)

Stat Counter – For the most part statcounter is free. There pricing plan starts at free up until you hit 250,000 page views and then the prices go to $9.00, $19.00, $29.00. But I’m sure that when you hit 250,000 page views per month you wont be worrying about a mere $9.00.

Webalizer – Not one of my favorites because of it’s lack of features but I mentioned it because it’s free.

GoStats – I have never tried this one out nor have I ever heard of it before today, but from the looks of it I would probably stay with analytics before I went over to this.

Rite Counter – Again I have never used this package but unlike GoStats I think I would actually try this one. From the looks of it, it looks pretty promising. But again I haven’t tried it so I really don’t know.

Competitive Research Tools

Alexa – umm I am probably only mentioning this so that I could bash them. so let me not go on a tangent today, because I really wanna keep the focus. So what is Alexa good for, well if you have a buddy who knows absolutely nothing about the net then you could show him how well you rank in Alexa (if you rank well).

Compete.com – allows you to compare your site to your competitors. This is still somewhat like Alexa to me but I feel that compete has a better all around system than Alexa. But thats just my opinion.

Quantcast – Quantcast is good because if you get lucky you will actually find a webmaster that pasted the Quantcast code into their website, what that will do is give you an exact metric on how much traffic they are getting. I personally like Quantcast better than Compete and Alexa

Google Trends for Websites – Another competitive research tool by Google kind of similar to the last three but this tool only returns data for websites with a very decent amount of traffic.

Keyword Analysis

Google Search Insights – shows keyword trends, hot keywords by cateogry, and top geographic regions for a keyword.

AdWords Keyword Research Tool – allows you to plug in a URL and shows you what keywords Google thinks the page should be advertising for.

MSN AdCenter Labs – Offers many robust keyword tools.  These tools include everything from keyword research to demographic prediction.

Link Analysis Tools

SEO Toolbar – Imports link data from various sources and makes it quite easy to compare sites against each other.

SEO for Firefox – Import useful marketing data (including link counts, with links to source data) right into Google and Yahoo search results.

Yahoo Site Explorer – An oldie but goodie. This is a pretty basic link analysis feature from Yahoo!. It gives you some very basic information on how many links go back to a site.

Blogstorm Link Analysis Tool (Beta) – This downloadable tool is still in beta testing. But as of right now this tool will pull info from Yahoo! and grabs the Page Rank of a page. Then the tool finds not only the exact sites linking to these pages but the sites that link to the linking pages as well.

General SEO Tools

SEO Chat – These tools are a tad bit dated but SEO Chat still offers a very wide range of tools that are great for SEO.

SEOMoz - While SEOMoz’s paid section is very comprehensive they also have a free member signup. Even though being a free member is nowhere as good as being a pro member I still think that their fre tools are a lot better than most paid tools.

IWebTool - Offering some very good tools. One of my personal favorites is the backlink checker. This tool not only pulls up a healthy sample of the backlinks going into the site it also pulls up their PageRank.

Email Title & Description Extractor - Paste Your Domain Find Email Automatically.

List of Social Bookmarking Sites – This page includes a very healthy list of social bookmarking sites.

Web Tool HubFree Web Tools built to assist webmasters in designing and adjusting their website(s) for search engine optimization with different search engines.

On Page SEO Tools

Meta Tag Analyzer – SeoCentro designed this Meta Tag analysis tool to help webmasters analyze their web pages. This search engine optimization tool analyze not only the Meta Tags but try to use the same spider technology as the search engines spiders them self.

Search Engine Spider Simulator -  This tool will examine a web page the same way as a search engine spider does and display results.

Xenu Link Sleuth – This is a personal favorite of mine. Xenu link sleuth is an excellent tool to check for broken links. This tool has helped me in many situations, especially with sites that were way to large to check for broken links manually.

PageRank Checking Tool – A great tool to check a websites pagerank.

Recipricol Link Checker – This tool is a very good tool to check to see if you have recipricol links coming back into your site. This tool sure saves you a lot of trouble of having to manually check for link partners.

Inner Pagerank Checker – This tool checks all of your pagerank going to your inner pages. This is a great way to check either your site or your competitors site for PR.

So this is my list of free SEO tools if  you have any to add please feel free to contact me using the contact form on the left hand side or just drop me a comment and I will be sure to add it to the list along with that I will add your name and website so that you can get credit for the mention.

    Dear Author http://www.graphicseo.org !
I think, that you are mistaken. I can prove it. Write to me in PM, we will talk.

    • I would rather talk about it openly so that my readers can see how I am mistaken about giving a list of free SEO tools.

Also being as though you say I am mistaken on an article that clearly has no wrong answer I do not feel comfortable giving out my email address to you because from the comment you left I feel that you might be spam.

But if you are not SPAM please go in to detail about how I am mistaken about this list. Is there a tool on here that I am missing or are one of the tools now a paid tool?

      Thanks for the comment

  23. A lot of people have trouble understanding SEO reports that most of these tools deliver. And most of them require you to run them manually and on one page at a time. Having SEO tools built into your website Content Management System CMS is much preferred. Try Preation’s Eden Platform (http://www.preation.com), we would love to hear what you think about the software. We are always improving the search engine optimization component within Eden Platform.

  24. Thanks u admin. Its important for me :) Can I use it on my blog in different languages.
