I wanted to make a brief post on some of my favorite content management systems. These are all systems that I have used and found to be very easy to use along with being SEO friendly.
CMS For Ecommerce
OsCommerce – OsCommerce is an awesome platform if you know what you are doing or have the money to hire a developer. You can install any plug-in that you can possibly think of and for the most part everything is free. The downside is, if you dont know how to use it and cant hire a developer be prepared for sleepless nights and headaches.
Cre Loaded – Cre loaded is great for people who are not the developer type. It requires a lot less tweaking than OsCommerce and you can buy a crap load of easy to install plug-ins for it. the downside is that you have to pay for everything including the platform. There is a free edition of this platform but I found that it is very stripped down compared to the payed version.
Magento - Magento is a very robust system. While it is still in its earlier stages and really has a long way to go, I do believe that Magento is a very worth competitor to the older platforms. At one point I was building a site on Magento and realized that it had every capability to make the site look exactly like a class A shopping site such as walmart or best buy. That is something that is very hard to do with OsCommerce or Cre Loaded.
others that I haven’t used are but have heard good things about are:
CMS For Blogs
Wordpress – Need I say more. Wordpress is an evolution and I am sure I have a billion people to back me up on this. While their are other blogging platforms, for ease of use and all the plugins one can desire wordpress is the easy solution.
Movable Type – Movable Type is also a leading competitor in blogging platforms. It is an excellent and powerful platform. In my opinion does it compare to wordpress? Probably not. But again thats just my opinion.
CMS For Regular Websites
Drupal - Drupal is great but it rally takes a little bit of a learning curve to get the hang of. If used right it can be a very nice little system for your website.
CMS Made Simple – CMS Made Simple is extremely powerful for any customization work be prepared to work witha ton of smarty tags and a lot of css.Though I must admit that this is one of my personal favorites just for the sheer ability of being able to strip the site down into nothing and rebuilding it any way you see fit.
I know that there are a lot of other content management systems out there but I am just giving examples of ones that I have either used or heard about. If you have any that you would like to add please feel free to leave it in the comments and I will post it.

Joomla for e-commerce and regular cms
Drupal for e-commerce and regular cms
Magento is okay for e-commerce…still has restrictions.
Wordpress great for cms but not e-commerce
think vbulletin is the best. that’s what i use now on my site. http://www.dravalley.com
I am biased but I think that Preation’s Eden Platform is the best CMS for a website that cares about SEO. It has a built in SEO Suggestion Engine that analyzes each page and gives easy to understand suggestions. It also starts at only $10 / month so you can’t beat that. If you want to compare it go to http://www.preation.com and try the 2 week fully featured free trial.
Hope this helps people with their searching.
